ACHWeb - Job Database |
|
Welcome. This database of current (and past) job listings in humanities computing, available online since September 2001, is a free public service sponsored by the Association for Computers and the Humanities.
If you have any questions about appropriate jobs to post, or about using the database, please email its current editor, Matt Zimmerman (matt dot zimmerman at gmail dot com). |

Some additional notes: The database is intended to serve both academic and industry constituencies. While we hope this coverage proves broad and inclusive, please understand that we cannot claim or ensure that the listings here are comprehensive. In particular, we are aware that our coverage of industry positions is likely to be somewhat spotty and inconsistent. Therefore, the ACH assumes no liability for failing to list an available position; likewise, though we try hard to get the data right, the ACH can assume no liability for the accuracy and integrity of the job ads that are posted. As a rule, industry jobs are listed only where they include a substantial humanities component, i.e. a set of professional responsibilities that might engage a person seeking to sustain intellectual pursuits begun as a graduate or undergraduate student. Likewise, academic jobs should not simply be computing positions in a college or university environment, but should involve meaningful contact and collaboration with faculty and students in the academic humanities. For an overview of the various kinds of departments, programs, and units comprising academic humanities computing, see Humanities Computing Units and Institutional Resources. Users of the database may also be interested in the papers from a panel discussion on the Humanities Computing Job Market, held at the 2000 joint international conference of the Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing and the Association for Computers and the Humanities. |
